Madison's got a good hometown feel--wholesome and relaxing. This research driven mega school of the Midwest offers innumerable resources in its science and engineering programs. However, the arts and humanities remain neglected as a result. Seek out what you want and you shall find. Lots of clubs, intense school spirit, and more cans of beer than actual people gives students a very genuine taste of the college life. Students here love their overall experience. The routine is simple: beer, football...beer, study, class...beer, beer...more beer.

A school better known for its consumption of beer, has begun to gain national attention as a training ground for top CEOs. An article in BusinessWeek magazine reported that UW-Madison is tied for first place with Harvard in terms of producing CEOs who head Standard & Poors 500 Index companies.
The BusinessWeek article noted that todays CEOs are less likely than predecessors to be company loyalists or military veterans, and tend to stem from large public universities.
Wisconsin and Harvard each produced 14 CEOs at S&P 500 companies from their undergraduate alumni. Outside of S&P 500 companies, more than 1,050 UW-Madison alumni serve as a CEO of companies and other organizations of all sizes, and nearly 16,000 hold an executive management position.
Why do Wisconsin alumni seem apt to rise to the role of leader? “Lots of schools talk about leadership,” says Michael M. Knetter, dean of the UW-Madison School of Business, “Wisconsin graduates are doing it.”
According to Knetter, “One important reason is that the university has great inputs. Although it draws students from all over the world, many of our students come from in state and Wisconsin’s K-12 education system is consistently ranked as one of the best in the nation.

Angelic, a bar located in Madison, WI, use to be one of my favorite and my friends’ favorite bar in Madison, WI. On a given week, I would probably be there at the minimum 3 times, and still it never got old. The bartenders knew us, the bouncers let us in, there was live music, and the drinks never stopped coming. Unfortunately, as Angelic’s popularity grew, cops became more aware of the number of underage drinkers that usually were in attendance. Unexpectedly, Angelic was shutdown over the summer, and never reopened, leaving a huge void in our Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights.
For the past 9 months, Angelic has remain closed, but recently news had emerged indicating Angelic will be bought by a Texas bar owner. Joe Bendetti, president of the Austin company, wants to open a Logan’s bar and restaurant in the downtown space that for 13 years was home to Angelic Brewing Co. Bendetti’s proposal indicated that he wouldn’t make beer like Angelic did, but would provide a full bar and restaurant that could open by Sept. 1, filling a now vacant 9,000-square-foot commercial space. Bendetti hopes that Logan’s will be a place that 21 year olds to 61 year olds can enjoy, and wants it to have “a warm and cozy feel with a very traditional menu.” Bendetti has planned an extensive renovation of the space to give it an Old World feel using mahogany, tile and stain glass.
Whether they renovate it or not, I hope one thing remains constant: the bouncers don’t give two shits about IDs.

Can think of few more relaxing, engaging, entertaining, people watching hotspots at the University of Wisconsin than the Memorial Union Terrace, especially in the summer after putting up with a long frigid Wisconsin winter.
Noted for the iconic patio chairs….the union covers a huge expanse of terrace and pier along beautiful Lake Mendota. The joy of the locale is you can sit back and do absolutely nothing— OR
1. enjoy brats and brew with friends
2. rent a sailboat at the nearby Outdoor Rentals
3. feed the ducks
4. enjoy food from the Der Rathskeller
5. share a sunset with someone special
6. enjoy the myriad of musical sounds from salsa to punk during the Hot Summer Nights concert series
7. catch a movie at the terrace on Monday nights.
8. people watch…always a guarantee to see a “character” or two!
Memorial Union Terrace
Be There- Aloha
It’s not known as the heart and soul of UW Madison for nothing!

State street in Madison is one of a kind. Anyone looking for a real party school better spend a weekend enjoying all of the bars it has to offer before looking further.

Wisconsin places more grads in Fortune 500 companies than any other school in the country. Their Entrepreneurprogr program is one of if not the most elite in the country. New businessse are always being formed by students who still manage to go out and have a great time enjoying the fine nightlife the area has to offer. You should check out BadgerTrips.com which was just created by two undergrads there, a bnlossoming service providing transportation and accommodations for road football games. Pretty cool.
